Czopek & Erdenberger was part of the integrated design team for the award winning MultiCare Health Systems Milgard Pavilion.  The new $117 million, 194,000 sf addition includes a new 77 room Emergency Department with specialized pediatric areas and an express care center, as well as the expansion of the MultiCare Regional Cancer Center which brings all aspects of cancer care into one comprehensive facility.  As the interiors consultant on the design team, C&E undertook extensive research to develop a materials palette that would be soothing and less clinical but would also meet stringent high performance requirements.  Specialty areas of design for C&E included custom designed bronze sea life icons incorporated into an overall terrazzo pattern, etched glass and film patterns for dividers & exam room doors and research and design collaboration with architects, suppliers and fabricators on unique nurses stations within the ED exam area which incorporate highly durable transaction surfaces which are back-lit to provide a soft lighting effect.
